And just like that Jack’OLanterns disappear, Turkeys cringe, and…is that Christmas music I hear!?
Although it is a little early for Jingle Bells and Christmas lights, Black Hawk County 4-H is gearing up for the winter season with participation in the Cedar Valley STEM Festival, great workshops and the Annual 4-H Awards Banquet.
Families are invited to join Black Hawk County 4-H, 4-H FLL, the AmeriCorps FoodCorps, the AmeriCorps Vista, and the Master Gardener’s Program at the Cedar Valley STEM Festival on Thursday, November 10th from 4-7:30 PM. This free and public event will be at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center In Waterloo.
The festival will host over 70 organizations with hands on activities for youth K-12. Supported by the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council at UNI, AEA 267, Hawkeye Community College and more, this is not an event your family will want to miss!
On Saturday, November 19th, Black Hawk County 4-H will be hosting the second of six workshops from October to April. November’s workshop features Holiday Wreath-Making with a Citizenship twist. For $10.00 4-H members and their family members or leaders can create a wreath with pine cones, ribbon, and tons of other fun items provided with registration!
The best part of this project? In addition to the wreath the participant gets to make to share with a family member or take home, they make one to donate to a nursing home. Wreaths will be completed at the Black Hawk County Extension Office and those being donated will be delivered in December.
Are you interested in joining BHC 4-H Staff at the Wreath-Making workshop? Please email email@example.com to register-there are only 12 participant spots left!
One of the final November Events for Black Hawk County 4-H is the Annual 4-H Awards Banquet. This Dessert Bar Banquet is hosted by Black Hawk County 4-H Staff in celebration of the dedication of 4-H members, leaders, volunteers and families over the past year.
No tickets for admission are required, 4-H families and members are encouraged to join us on November 20th from 2-4 PM for award presentations, volunteer appreciation, and socializing. The Awards Banquet is at the Electric Park Ballroom on the National Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo.
