Mastering Mixed Media-February 4-H Workshop

Paint, Scrapbook Paper, Gems, OH MY!

No, this is not an announcement that the Black Hawk County 4-H Program has gone completely Wizard of Oz (or that a tornado has hit our supply cabinets)… but it is an announcement for the February Workshop!

Join the 4-H Staff at the Black Hawk County Extension Office (3420 University Ave, Waterloo) for a Mixed Media Canvas Workshop! Combine Paint, Scrapbook Paper, Gems, Tissue Paper and more into a beautiful piece of art starring a happy little bird.

See the 4-H AmeriCorp’s demonstration pieces in the provided pictures. This was SUCH a fun project! The process was simple, fun, and carefree as this slightly abstract mixed media piece required freethinking and many (we mean MANY) layers of materials.

Workshop participants will explore creative concepts including elements of design, art principles, layering, and working with the basics of abstract art while creating a multi-media canvas project. Additionally, 4-H Members will have the opportunity to network with other youth of similar interests while gaining an understanding of the creative arts project area within the 4-H program.

Check out the details and register for your canvas today!

Date: February 24th

Time: 4:00-6:30 PM

Location: Black Hawk County Extension & Outreach, Conference Room A

Cost: $3 (Canvas, All Supplies, Pizza)

Note: Participation limited to the first 20 registered (parents & youth)

To Register: Email Emily at
